These kits consist of the Chockfast resin and the hardener made by Philadelphia Resins, now ITW. The resin cans have 15 lbs of material in them and are half-empty to allow space for the mixing of the two parts. The hardener is in a 17 oz container. This material is older stock but has been tested and found to perform very close to the performance of new material. The reason this is true is that epoxies, in general, have no known shelf life provided they are not subjected to temperature extremes. This fact can be verified by checking with a chemist or others familiar with epoxies. The only difference we saw was that under certain conditions the time to set-up was shorter or longer depending on temperature and ratios.

This is a 2 component system with variable hardener ratio options. This is used as a chock or poured shim, replacing steel chocks or shims. It can also be used as an industrial-strength grout to level underneath machinery or equipment. It is machinable and non-shrinking once hardened. Resists severe marine and industrial environments. Suitable for pouring to depths of 1/2 inch to 4 inches with adjustments made to catalyst ratio. It can be cast in a mold by building a dam around the area to be chocked.

The cans show some rust spots but the insides of the cans are in new condition. The material inside is as it should be. The newer spec sheets from ITW specify that Chock Fast Orange has a shelf life of 2 years. We know for a fact that this is not true since our material is many years old and performing as it should.  Any chemist will confirm that this type of epoxy has no shelf life.   This material must be mixed with a power mixer, mixing by hand will consume too much of the pot life.  The viscosity of this material before the hardener is added is such that it requires a power mixer to mix the two components.  We realize the manufacturer is using this information to encourage owners of older material to discard it.

Our reduced price for this material reflects the fact that it was purchased surplus from the US Navy and not in any way indicative of any defects other then what has been previously disclosed.
