Used rollover protection system (ROPS) that was designed for the military 6000lb all-terrain forklift. This is the updated rollover system that was retrofitted to these lifts after they were initially manufactured. The update includes what is pictured here along with the mating V-shaped bosses that are bolted on the frame rails of the machine under the engine area. These protection units are often removed to transport the forklifts so this may be an opportunity to get one back on your lift if it was lost.
