This is a used Pall fluid purification system that is used to filter and purify lube and hydraulic oils by the means of vacuum dehydration and multi-stage cartridge filters.   This self contained cart requires only 440V three phase to power a motor that in turn operates mulitple pumps and the vacuum pump.  If the fluid is the correct viscostiy and temperature,  the cart can draw the fluid in under its own vacuum power, or if it is thicker or colder it may require and auxillary feed pump.

Fluid is drawn into the cart through the 25 inlet filter and then into the input pump.  Then it enters the top of the vacuum tower where the water, air and chlorinated solvents are removed as the oil cascades down the baffles in the tower where it collects.  The  vacuum pump draws the air from the top of the tower through an orifice which lowers the ambient air's relative humidty in the tower which helps remove the moisture from the fluid.  Oil collects in the bottom of the tank where it is pumped out with the discharge pump.  The tank level is maintained with a float valve and a high and low level switch controls the motor.  The discharge pump feeds the outlet filter housing and after the oil is filtered it exits the purifier cart.

This an older model Pall purifier and as such does not have any automation components making for a simple and robust design.  The filters are easy to replace and a common size.

TEST REPORT: The unit was tested and everything works but the wrong level switch is currently installed so the machine will trip off prematurely for a high oil level.  During our initial testing we discovered the float switch was inconsistent so the tower was removed and we ordered a new switch based on the dimensions of the old switch.  The new switch was installed and the tower was put back in place but when we tested the machine this time the high level switch was turning the motor off before the float level valve could maintain the proper oil level in the bottom of the tower.  The manufacturer finally emailed us the original specs of the correct switch and it turns out the high level limit should have been 2" higher that the switch that was installed, and since we copied the wrongly installed switch, the machine currently is not operational.

FOR THE MACHINE TO BE OPERATIONAL A NEW FLOAT SWITCH NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED.  When operating the machine with the spring loaded "run" switch the motor runs the vacuum pumps and oil pumps and a good vacuum is created in the tower and the pumps provide a strong flow coming from the outlet,  so as soon as the float switch is replaced the unit will properly latch-on and run.
