This is a Cadex Projection and Surface Friction helmet testing machine. The machine performs both the friction and shear test according to method B as part of the ECE 22.05 standard. The overhead arm holds the headform and helmet upside down and provides downward force on the sliding table. The force is applied and with an adjustable pneumatic cylinder. The sliding action is accomplished with a sliding table on slide bearings that is pulled via a tether by a falling weight. Once the weight is in the raised position the machine is ready to operate and the operator triggers the machine with the touch screen controller. The weight falls which pulls the tether and slides the table while the helmet has a preloaded force against the table. The friction occurs between the helmet and sliding table and the projection test involves the helmet sliding over a 1/4" high steel bar.
This machine is in near new condition and was barely used. Headform not included.
