This is a Multi-Purpose installer lift used to help install heavy components like transmissions or gearboxes in machinery, autos or aircraft. This machine is a Crown battery powered walk behind stacker that has a custom built manipulator built onto the mast. The manipulator allows the load to be rotated, swung, shifted left/right and lifted up and down. The Crown lift was originally rated at 3000lbs, but with the addition of the manipulator and the longer load center the machine now has a capacity of 1200lbs. This installer unit was used by Lockhead and NASA for installing components on the Space Shuttle program. The main problems with the lift is there is no battery installed and the front wheels need to be replaced and one axis gearbox needs to be fixed. We temporarily installed some car batteries to test the lift and all the functions worked well. There are two axis' that rotate, each with a gearbox that is operated with a ratcheting lever. ONE OF THE GEARBOXES IS CURRENTLY NOT INSTALLED DUE TO A BROKEN SHAFT. The axis can be rotated by hand or the gearbox can be fixed and reinstalled.
