This is a Kinney boosted liquid ring vacuum pump package that consists of a 60 HP liquid ring vacuum pump, a 100 HP booster pump, bypass circuit, oil sealing system, heat exchangers and tank all mouted on a skid. This unit was designed to provide 3000 CFM at 45 torr for a vacuum chamber. The sequence of operation is, the liquid ring pump turns on first, once the pressure drops to 150 Torr the blower starts, when the pressure drops to 75 Torr the bypass closes allowing all of the gas the pass through the blower into liquid ring pump.
The liquid ring pump uses oil for the sealing fluid which means all of the pump and piping internals have been preseverd versus if water was used. There is a dedicated oil pump for the oil system along with dual heat exchangers meaning this is a full sealant recovery (FSR) closed loop sealing configuration. The heat exchangers are cooled with a city water connection. There are also small diameter cooling lines that go to the end bells of the booster pump. These lines were cut to drain the water so they will need to be repaired.
The package is in good condition and was partially tested as can be seen in the video. We powered the oil pump and liquid ring pump and the liquid ring pump sounded good and it would pull a vacuum when we would close the inlet valve and manual bypass valve. The liquid ring pump would actually spin the booster pump very easily when closing the manual bypass valve as it was pulling a vacuum through the blower. The system is complete with the blower cut-in pressure switch, bypass cut-in pressure switch booster high temp switch, separator high temp switch and motor starter cabinet. The motor starter cabinet houses the main disconnect, fuses and motor starters for the oil pump, liquid ring pump and booster, a user would need to add some controls to turn the motor starters on.
